Image of liberal captured in "reasoned" discussion:

On the 2006 Elections

My prognosis for the 2006 Congressional Elections is that conservatives will do well no matter how the elections turn out, due to certain conclusions I've drawn about the Democratic Party.

If the Republicans gain in total seats in the House, then this is simply a vindication of whatever strategy Karl Rove is sure to come up with for the 2006 elections. The Democrats will probably become more marginalized than they are now, and it would definitely weaken the people I consider the greatest threat to Republican dominance - the Democratic Leadership Coalition, which is virulently anti-Dean. A Republican victory would make it that much more likely than the DLC would fall into irrelevance and the Democrats would be run by the fans of Dr. Howard Dean, which would cement the Democratic Party as the Opposition Party. That would ensure us of at least 10 more years of controlling the House. Maybe, even 20 years.

If the Republicans were to somehow lose seats in the House, this would also strengthen the Howard Dean group. The problem with the Deanites is that they've come to believe that the dog that barks loudest is the strongest dog. The message from the Deanites would be that "WE won the election", and they would feel encouraged to run wild...and I think that the Deanites should indeed be the voice of the Democratic Party. I want people to think "Michael Moore" when they think of the Democrats, not "Joe Lieberman".

As for the Senate, you have to look at what goes on there with a grain of salt. The Senate's change is glacial. In the House, every single member is up for reelection every two years; in the Senate, only a third of the body faces that challenge. A defeat in the House will take about six years to be reflected in the Senate, if trends go that way; a victory in the House translates to further Republican strength, sooner or later.

One of the massive strengths that Republicans have is the power of the Swift Boat - to point out the contradictions, omissions, forgetfulness and outright lies of our opponents. Kerry found himself sunk by Karl Rove's torpedo; he chose to ignore the threat until the time it sank his boat. He figured that his statements about his role in Vietnam would simply be taken at face value.

Likewise, Cindy Sheehan figured that the image Joe Trippi wanted Americans to see - that of an innocent woman just minding her own business while mean ol' Bush got her son killed - would also be taken at face value. We Swift Boated Cindy with the most devastating of weapons - the truth. Cindy had an anti-war activist record a mile wide and she was as far from the portrayal of a neutral as one could imagine.

The fact is, the Democratic party is split into two increasingly divergent wings. The first is what you could call "pro-American Democrats", like Lieberman and Zell Miller. They generally hold America in high esteem, are measured and deliberate speakers who have differences - some significant, mind you - with Republicans, but they are generally respected people.

The other Democratic Party is...well, I don't know if "fellow travellers" is the right word to use. I suppose the best word to use is "pinko-Democrats". Light on the socialism, the kind of guys who either out and out admired the Soviet Union or thought it was best to look for "common ground". The kind of people who believe that when the President meets a head of state, the first thing the President should do is ask for forgiveness. The kind of people who see America as primarily in the role of The Bad Guy.

They don't so much as hate America as believe that America is the kind of cheap hooker you see at the local Motel Six, asking for money and sleeping with the local Mafiosi. But the Pinkos intend to redeem America, in the same way a preacher will redeem a fallen sinner. America needs to be brought back to the light! Lady America needs to be rescued, and what America needs is a good Pinko candidate who can lead America to state socialism and appeasement on a global scale! They'd almost say "God Bless America!" at the thought...save for the fact that they don't believe in God, they believe that 'blessing' is a synonmym for class corruption, and they'd rather bless Sweden or Palestine.

As long as the Pinkos speak for the Democratic Party, the Republicans have a chance to win elections. It's that simple. Carter, Mondale, and Dukakis - Pinkos all - were beaten like drums by Ronald Reagan and George Bush. Only Ross Perot kept George Bush from a second term.

As for Bill Clinton, he figured out that the only way to hold both of the Democratic Party wings together is to lie, lie again, and then lie some more. Gore was Bill Clinton telling the truth instead of lying. And Kerry figured that somehow, he could remain a member of both wings of the Democratic Party, leading to such nonsensical statements as that he voted for the war before he voted against it. And he ran as a war hero both willing to fight for America and despising the America he fought for.

I've come to believe that Karl Rove's secrets of success are in giving the Pinkos as much of a share of the national dialogue as he can. It's similar to the old saying of giving your enemy enough rope to hang himself.

The State of the Anti War "Movement"

From Mark Berringer:

The antiwar movement became both more powerful and, at the same time, less cohesive between 1969 and 1973. Most Americans pragmatically opposed escalating the U.S. role in Vietnam, believing the economic cost too high; in November of 1969 a second march on Washington drew an estimated 500,000 participants. At the same time, most disapproved of the counterculture that had arisen alongside the antiwar movement. The clean-cut, well-dressed SDS members, who had tied their hopes to McCarthy in 1968, were being subordinated as movement leaders. Their replacements deservedly gained less public respect, were tagged with the label "hippie," and faced much mainstream opposition from middle-class Americans uncomfortable with the youth culture of the period-long hair, casual drug use, promiscuity. Protest music, typified by Joan Baez and Bob Dylan, contributed to the gulf between young and old. Cultural and political protest had become inextricably intertwined within the movement's vanguard. The new leaders became increasingly strident, greeting returning soldiers with jeers and taunts, spitting on troops in airports and on public streets. A unique situation arose in which most Americans supported the cause but opposed the leaders, methods, and culture of protest.

This is what's happening with the current state of the anti-war "movement" - a movement with very few members. My prediction is that theythe Left will descend into violence much more rapidly this time, and within a few months, Eschatonians will be calling for soldiers to be beaten on the street like dogs.

Although the anti-war movement did help Nixon win in 1972. No one likes a hippie. Not even other hippies.

Blinded by the Hate

Reading posts at Eschaton has led me to ask the question about whether or not liberals DO hate America.

Normally, we on the right love to use that as a rhetorical baseball bat. We call Blue State America the "hate-America-first" crowd. (Not to say there don't exist Eschatonians who DO hate America.) However, no rhetorical blanket covers everyone. I'm sure that there are many liberals who do indeed love America -- it's just that they never seem to get much airtime over at the liberal blogs.

At first, my question was "why do liberals hate the troops?" Every time a setback occurs in Iraq -- say, a suicide bomb goes off or an American trooper gets killed - the liberals post with something close to approaching undisguised glee. I thought "could liberals actually be taking... pleasure in the fact that American troops are dying?" "Could they be actively on the side of the Bin Ladens and the Sadrs of the world?"

I believe the answer is no. My view of the world is overwhelmingly positive. (Thank you, Ronald Reagan.) Most people aren't insane. What I do believe is that many liberals (and definitely the ones at the Eschaton blog) hate George W. Bush with such an overwhelming blinding passion that it overcomes common sense. As a result, any setback America faces, anywhere - whether it be in Iraq or in relief of the city of New Orleans - brings complete ecstacy to the faces of most liberals. Not because they hate our troops, or want people in New Orleans to die, but because the very first consideration of any piece of news, from the important to the insignificant, is "can I use what I've learned in the news to bash Emperor George W. Bu$HHitler, the MOST EVIL MAN IN AMERICA!!!!!?6!!!!(tm)"

In this case, the wellbeing of the troops becomes secondary. The thought, "isn't it a shame that scum shot American soldiers trying to keep the peace?" becomes secondary to "It's Bu$HHitler's fault!!!!!" The thought, "how do we get help to the people in New Orleans that need it?" is secondary to "It's Bu$HHitler's fault!!!!!" True, they feel sadness that these things have happened - but they also feel ecstasy in that they will get another chance to indulge their most passionate of hobbies. (*) And it's much easier to submerge sadness and embrace the momentary ecstatic pleasure that liberals get in Bush-bashing.

I almost ask, "what will liberals do with themselves when Bush leaves office in 2008? who will they bash then?" However, I know the answer. "They'll bash the Republican who succeeds him."

(*)To some, Bush-bashing is indeed a hobby, with an ever-shrinking number of participants - witness the results of the 2004 election. Democrats might become so scarce in some places that those who cling to their dying party will be looked on as odd ducks, not unlike the five guys who come to McDonald's in full Klingon regalia.

When I Come Around

Why no blog post, you might ask!

Simple. I'm in skool geting an edumikashun.

I mean, after all, I can't torment liberals all day! Until then, enjoy this blog , this blog , this one , and this one for now.

Oh yeah, and this one . Damn, I should be posting instead of reading blogs! That's the problem with the world, too many great blogs, not enough readers.

Internatioal Workers of the World, Unite!!

From the Saint Cindy site.

Joan asked Cindy if she had any requests, and indeed she did: Cindy asked her to sing "Joe Hill."

From Wikipedia , telling us a bit about Joe Hill's union.

""The working class and the employing class have nothing in common. There can be no peace so long as hunger and want are found among millions of the working people and the few, who make up the employing class, have all the good things of life. Between these two classes a struggle must go on until the workers of the world organize as a class, take possession of the means of production, abolish the wage system, and live in harmony with the Earth. ... Instead of the conservative motto, 'A fair day's wage for a fair day's work', we must inscribe on our banner the revolutionary watchword, 'Abolition of the wage system'."

Liberal Discovers Truth by Accident, Film at 11

From Some Wiccan, somewhere.

The nail that sticks up gets hammered down. This used to be a Japanese proverb, I think, but these days it describes the public sphere of the United States real well. So Sheehan is a nail and Michelle Malkin and the other wingnuts wield the hammer.

Well, the analogy is half-true, at least. But in Saint Cindy's case the hammer we wield is a claw hammer. We're not using the striking surface of the hammer. Rather, we're using the claw end of the hammer, to yank the nail out of the board and reveal the part of Saint Cindy that's hidden from the public.

Liberal Tropes

Borrowed this one from a poster at this site .

Zapp gives us an example of what I call "the bind of the mind."

On the one hand, unless one have been personally involved in an activity, one's opinion about it is worthless.

On the other hand, if one has been personally involved in an activity, one is too close to it for objectivity and one's opinion is hardly worthwhile.

Choose your trope for the particular position one intends to trash.

Rhetoric is the foe of reason. Darned Greeks.

Which means that liberals are some of the least qualified people to talk in the world - because, as they are anti-achievement, they never actually do anything but bitch.

Get your position here

I stole it from him . I'm sending doug (see below) after him to assure the Presidency.

Sorry doug. America rejected the hippies back in 1968. Sounds like you're still smarting over it.

Casey, we won't let your misguided mother destroy your dreams.
We won't let the liberals turn the country that you gave your life to help over to the Islamofascists.

Post this picture wherever you can, folks. The liberals hate seeing it.

We stand for CASEY.

An Islamic Constitution! Gad-Zooks!

Now that the Iraqis are taking the next step in their independence by drafting a Constitution, the fine whine from the liberals is "But...but the new Iraq has a Constituation that mentions Islam and Shar'ia! That's just so wrong, and so evil!"

Some reading for our liberal friends.

Article 3, Yemen Constitution

.. .. ..

Funny how the liberals weren't protesting against the Palestinian Constitutions. Oh, that's right, I forgot. The Palestinians are "freedom fighters". A free Iraqi people are just puppets. In the liberal world, the men that killed Casey Sheehan are the rightful and honorable rulers of Iraq.

Saint Cindy Speaks!

We as mothers need to stop buying into the load of misogynistic crap that our children need our constant presence in their lives so they can thrive and grow. What we need as families are strong support systems that allow each family member to grow and achieve his/her full potential as human beings. What we as Moms need to stop doing is giving our children to the military industrial war complex to be used as human cluster bombs: to kill innocent civilians and to perhaps die enriching and feeding the gluttonous war machine.

It is up to us Moms to make sure our children are whole and safe. We can start doing this by always opposing the wars that bury our kids before us. So what I am saying to the people who want me to go home and take care of my kids: I AM taking care of my kids, and yours, too.

Sounds like it was cut and pasted from the "No Blood for Oil Crowd". Where's the "Bush is a Nazi" statement? Her hands must have cramped up, or she would have thrown that one in there, too.

Cindy, not only do you not speak for us, we don't want you near our kids, either. I'm starting to suspect that the reason Casey re-enlisted is to get as far away from you as he possibly could.

Rules About Rules

Stolen from The Michael Barone Blog . Come to the Rob Douth Report, learn something new every day!

I like your rules, but since I began teaching poli sci and pub admin, I've codified some I learned the hard way and give them to my students as "Dave's Rules about Rules."

1. They won't tell you all the rules. (Even if they wanted to, they can't, because any game big enough to be fun and/or useful has too many rules to be easily transmitted. Plus, knowing the rules gives one advantages over those who don't know all the rules. Thus, you're gonna have to learn many of the rules on your own.) a. They *will* tell you enough of the rules, usually, to let you play.
2. Not all the important rules are formal. It is easier to transmit formal rules than informal rules. Thus, you'll have to learn a higher proportion of the informal rules the hard way.
3. All rules have an exception. Knowing the exceptions may be more useful than knowing the rule.
4. Informal rules are frequently the way we adapt to exceptions to the exceptions of the formal rules.
5. You can tell leaders not by the fact that they know all the rules (they may or may not) but by the fact that they know when and how to break the rules and not get punished. a. Leaders take us new places. You can't do that by following the rules, especially the formal rules. Anyone who tries to teach leadership by asserting a set of rules for it is either: 1) ignorant of what leaders do; 2) blind to reality; 3) jerking you around; or 4) deluded.
6. There are meta-rules (which are almost always informal) about making new rules. They almost always can't be codified and, hence, are very difficult to transmit.
7. One of the big rules is that if you do figure out a way to change the rules by using the rules, they have to let you.
8. All useful systems of rules have methods of changing the rules. See 5-7 above.
9. Experience may be the best teacher, but the cost is high. Learning from someone else's experience also works and is much cheaper. Observe. There are more (I've been watching and breaking rules for a while), but I usually don't list them all. I'll be adding yours.

A Kossack Speaks

I found this one at Daily Kos , of all places.

Out out stale old democrats in order to replace them with progrssives.

Amusing concept if you want to be a minority party forever. And by minority I mean SMALL minority. Sort of like Ralph Nader minority.

Politicaly, I am probably to the left of Mao or Lenin.

However, the American voter is NOT progressive. In fact, there is no platform issue, not maketing firm, no slick advertising capaign that is going to make them so.

Americans are not progressive by and large, and there is little that can be done to convince them to be progressive.

The only thing dramatic that will occure if the Dempocrats become MORE progressive is that the U.S. will in effect become a one party state, and that one party will be the Republican Party.

Any attempt to become MORE progressive will simply push people out of the arms of the Democratic Party straght to the Republicans, There is a reason that the Green Party in the U.S. dos not have 20, 30, 40, percent of the voters registered and it is not tradition or name recognition. The fact that there are lats of people registered independent indicates nothing accept the fact that people want the ability to swing their vote and want that known.

Even in most Western Europe governments ave had to become somewhat less progressive and liberal in order to simply in orderv to be productive enough to keep the state runnning.

Even the Scandavian states have had tu turn to privatization inorder to stop the collapse of their socilized medicine systems. RAther than having the government own all of the medical facilities, and be the employers of all medical staff, they have reverted to a private systems of providing health care and a single payer system of insurance. Germany has lowered its income tax rates, as have most of the nations of Western Europe. FAr from opposing outsourcing of jobs and things like CAFTA, the Europeans have embraced the World Market, and by and large are doing rather well. Because when they do so, they do it right. More than twice the percentage of businesses in Germany have been outsourced than in the United States. The Germans have a guest worker program.
THe only difference between the U.S. and Western Europe in this regard is WHO benefits from these policies. In the U.S. the government, the society, and the people are the direct beneficiaries of these policies. In the U.S. the beneficiaries are mostly in the private sector.

It does not matter if we pass acts like CAFTA and NAFTA. But in order for them to be beneficial to more than the C.E.O.'s of corporations, they must be done in the same way that the European Community does them. In europe, you see few people lose jobs when work is outsourced simply because re-training and re-employment it required by the government. It is rare for a person to lose a job in an outsourcing operation without another job being available, at the same or better pay. Europeans do not have to worry about losing other benefits when out of work either. Unemploymeny benefits are supplemented with housing and food stipends, health care is a given.

And these policies are all part of the Democratic party platform.

The only reason that Republicans are in power is that the majority, the vast majority of Americans are NOT progressive, but relatively conservative. At least on some issues. DEmocrats can make a good case on the economic front, but there are other issues that they fail at. And in those areas the public has firmly remianed relativelty conservative.

Any internal sabotage by progressives will simply give Republicans an even tighter grip on the nation. Period. Even if the public is sick of the war. All the REpublican have to do is come up with another method of cutting taxes in a way that looks different, and they will blow the issue of the war right out of the water.

Democrats had better look towards the next attempt and hustle that Republicans are going to give in orfder to give more money back to the rich while promising a few dollars to the middle class. And throwing in something about cultural values.

OR they lose again.

Damn straight the American voter is "not progressive". Just look at what calls itself "progressive" today. Michael Moore. Susan Sarandon. Cindy Sheehan. Ralph Nader. What a bunch.

The Turnaround in Fallujah

Some news from our "pals" at the World Peace Herald about Fallujah.

The insurgents have to hang on in Fallujah, because to accept defeat here means they will be without a rallying cry. The United States government has to stabilize this city if they are ever to claim victory in Iraq. The central government in Baghdad needs to show both its control over, and its compassion for, Fallujah if it is to have legitimacy in the eyes of the Sunnis.

And the Fallujans themselves want peace here, so they can rebuild their economy and homes and not be viewed by the rest of the world as terrorists-in-waiting.

Deliverance may be on its way. Driving through Fallujah's back alleys and main streets, the change from a year ago is stunning. For one, no Americans drove through Fallujah's streets back then. Now there are businesses open, Iraqi police directing cars, and street sweepers clearing debris -- a clever U.S. military program that puts money in people's pockets and also takes away hiding places for roadside bombs.

The industrial zone, however, is still flattened, ruined by Operation Al Fajr. The area provided 70 percent of the jobs in the city prior to the battle, and has yet to be given money by Baghdad to rebuild.

"Compensation is still the number one issue," said the U.S. official.

Around 130,000 people have returned to the city, half of its original population. About 24,000 claims have begun to be paid. At least 2,000 claims are outstanding.

Funny, I could have sworn from Duncan Black that Fallujah was a bombed out crater where we suffered the worst defeat ever. Amazing what you can read on the Internet, huh?

The Reason for Catholic Bashing

The Washington Times summarizes the Almanac of American Politics.

• Recalling that his post-2000 commentary described America as "the 49-percent nation," evenly split between the two parties, Mr. Barone today concludes that "America is now, perhaps momentarily, or perhaps at the beginning of a long period, a 51-percent nation, a majority -- a narrow majority -- Republican nation." Exit polling last year revealed party identification at 37 percent for both Republicans and Democrats, making 2004 "the first election in which Republicans achieved parity in party identification since the invention of random-sampling polling in the 1930s."
• In the safe Bush states (213 electoral votes) and the safe Kerry states (179 electoral votes), a similar pattern prevailed. In both sets of states, Mr. Bush increased his vote share by more than Mr. Kerry did, prompting Mr. Barone to observe: "The 2004 results showed the red states getting redder and the blue states getting less blue."
• Religion once again proved to be one of the demographic variables correlating most directly with voter behavior. Mr. Bush received 78 percent of the vote of white evangelical Protestants, who comprised 23 percent of the electorate. Raising his share by 5 percentage points, the president managed to capture 52 percent of the Catholic vote "against the first Catholic nominee since 1960."

Other great news there, too. The last paragraph explains why Catholicism is the new Evil Empire (but only if you listen to liberals).

Report from Camp Casey

The Rob Douth Report has finally decided to figure out what's going on at Camp Casey. Since I trust traditional media about as far as I can throw it, I decided to send my good friend Harold down there to report on the events at Camp Casey.

Getting news from Camp Casey is difficult, since all fax lines, cell phone access, etc. is strictly controlled by the followers of Cindy Sheehan. As a result, Harold's reports will be rather short. We have obtained a carrier pidgeon ("Speckled Jim"), and it is our fervent hope that after a few flights he will be able to carry longer messages with strengthening of the ol' wing muscles.

From this point on, here's Harold.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Rob, I've finally made it to Crawford, Texas to Camp Casey. For a few moments, I thought I wouldn't be able to infiltrate. However, after a helpful trucker in Waco threw me into a sewer drain and I spent the night crawling back up the ravine, I made it to Crawford and was accepted immediately as a protestor.

One of the most beautiful things you'll see here is a "greet the sun" ceremony, where a yogi gets everyone in the proper frame of mind with stretching exercises. The peace was quickly interrupted by the arrival of a truck from Kellogg's. After hearing the snapping, cracking and popping of forty year old limbs, executives from Battle Creek, Michigan thought they had the opportunity to sign an endorsement contract.

We then had a breakfast of leafy green things. I am killing for some bacon now, but we had to eat these stewed prunes. After that, a healthy run to the portajohns keeps the bodies of the protestors nice and trim.

Around 7 am, a protest march through the city of Crawford, Texas leaves from Camp Casey. With so many of the protestors gone, I thought this would be my best chance to get a look at the inner workings of Camp Casey. Unfortunately, the protestors returned, en masse, at approximately 7:15, their way barred by a "small yapping dog". Conversation in camp centers on if the dog belongs to George W. Bush.

Most of the attendees gathered at the center of the camp, waiting to hear an inspirational reading of "Howl" by Allen Ginsburg. However, at 7:45, a spokesperson for Cindy asked the crowd to disperse. It seems the protestors had been deceived, as Ginsburg has been dead since 1997.

However, I got lucky. With my new found credentials, I managed to luck into the planning session of Cindy Sheehan's spokespeople. A call was made at 8 am for the meeting to start.

After me and two other people waited for the meeting to start, a second call was made at 8:15 am. The two others ask me if I play hackey-sack. I shift, uneasily.

Finally, at 8:30 am, enough people wander in to hold the meeting. Unfortunately, no one has remembered to bring paper, so another call goes out for paper.

We start the meeting at 8:45 am, after a source of writing paper is found. However, the meeting is interrupted before the reading of the old minutes can be completed. Two of the portajohns have been "liberated" by protestors within Camp Casey. It seems the protesters are protesting the source of the paper used for writing the minutes of today's meeting. (I wondered why the paper was pink.)

Would write more, but Speckled Jim is pecking my shin. More later.

Banned Again, Naturally

Pulled my third banning from Duncan Black today. Toby, I'm coming after your record!

Here are my banworthy posts to the post called "PETA, Hippies, Naderites":

keeps the Rainbow People in Crawford nice and dry.

I don't suppose anyone wants to point out that the HIPPIES were 100% right the last time?

Exactly. They voted President McGovern to two full terms.

I guess it counts as "hate speech". Didn't realize Black was a Joan Baez fan.

Support for Terrorism in Middle East Declines DRAMATICALLY

Go over to Generation Why . Read the post titled, "We are Winning...Period".

I'm sure the article Jason is referring to will NEVER be quoted on Eschaton or Daily Kos. An excerpt:

Most important, support for terrorism in defense of Islam has "declined dramatically," in the Pew report's words, in Muslim countries, except in Jordan (which has a Palestinian majority) and Turkey, where support has remained a low 14 percent. It has fallen in Indonesia (from 27 to 15 percent since 2002), Pakistan (from 41 to 25 percent since 2004), Morocco (from 40 to 13 percent since 2004), and among Muslims in Lebanon (from 73 to 26 percent since 2002). Support for suicide bombings against Americans in Iraq has also declined. The percentage reporting some confidence in Osama bin Laden is now under 10 percent in Lebanon and Turkey and has fallen sharply in Indonesia.

Get over to that blog, and add yer dittoes. And thank you, George W. Bush!

Eschatidiot of the Day

...is Jennifer, Democrat Christian.

Doug - If you mean that I can call myself in the broadest definition a Christian (as in one who beleives in the message of Christ - mind your own business, be good to other people, don't be an asshole), then yes. If you mean one who believes in Christ as God's biological son, born of a virgin, or even heaven and hell, the answer would be no.

The Face of Evil

I agree completely!

The Cardinals virus is not thought to be life-threatening, though watching players like Shaun King, Troy Hambrick, Josh McCown, and Frank Sanders has been causing mild outbreaks of Cardinalitis in Phoenix for years. When exposed to the Cardinals horseshit play on the football field, fans experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and severe stomach cramps. Some long-suffering football fans continue coming back year-after-year, but most have learned to combat the virus by consuming massive amounts of alcohol, the only known cure for the disease, and watching the cheerleaders rather than the game.

Doctors at the University said the virus can spread through watching the Cardinals players practice or play games in person, by watching them on TV, and, as is the case with the most recent outbreak, simply by catching a glimpse of the team’s logo.

The Democrat Two-Point Plan for Iraq

From Perspectives:

A Ten Point Plan for Iraq .

Which is actually a variant of the Democrat Two-Point Plan for Vietnam....

I Can't Make This Stuff Up

I found this at redstate.org.

"We don't need some great lurch to the right or lurch to the left or redefinition of the Democratic Party. The last thing America needs is a second Republican Party," Kerry told the luncheon audience of 750 state lawmakers at the Westin Seattle Hotel. They are here to attend the National Conference of State Legislatures.

After the 34-minute speech to the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, Kerry, with his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, attended a fund-raising dinner at the Chateau Ste. Michelle Wine Estates winery in Woodinville for its Diversity Scholarship Fund.

Battling Americans

Warning. Liberal propaganda. Get your nose clothespin.

The Battle for America .

Now, contrast that movie with this one. You can then tell me if the Democrats really understand what America is about.

Beginnings of a Dictionary

Better thinkers than I have already done this, but I thought I'd throw my two cents in.

"fundie" - Short for "fundamentalist". Any religious person who has come to the conclusion that there is an absolute set of moral standards to live by. A "fundie" in leftist cant does not necessarily have to belong to a Baptist or Charismatic denomination, and doesn't even have to be Protestant. Also used to mean "any person whose religious beliefs tend to the right of the Unitarians or the Quakers".

"The Heartland" - Generally the "flyover" zone between both West and East Coasts of the United States where the makers of media opinion do not live. The Heartland tends red in elections and has for a long time.

"neo-con" - Short for "neo-conservative". A filler adjective, for leftists, more or less an undefinable term, to sprinkle between insults. However, among some liberals, it refers to Jewish conservatives.

"speaking truth to power" - Translates as "We look like a bunch of completely shabby looking people, but we hope that no one will notice it."

"wingnut" - Anyone to the right of Michael Moore.

The ever inclusive Pere Ubu!

Oh, and fuck the "Heartland" too.

if they're stupid enough to keep putting Repugs into office, they should live with their kids being sent to die for nothing, constantly increasing gas prices, no jobs, Wal-Marts full of outsourced merchandise and the occasional plane flying into buildings 'cause Bush has more important things to think about than keeping us safe.

The Sheehan Divorce

The actual Sheehan divorce papers can be found at The Smoking Gun .

The liberals say that the divorce does not detract from Sheehan's argument, and I agree. The (dubious) argument Sheehan makes should be a separate matter from whether or not Patrick Sheehan loves her any more. If you examine the papers, however, you find some items of note.

1. Mr. Sheehan does not wish to pay his wife any kind of support. He wishes the property split between them. Furthermore,

2. Ms. Sheehan will be issued a summons. On Page 3, you find the threatening language: "YOU ARE BEING SUED". First, she has to be served notice, then a response has to be filed. My question is whether Ms. Sheehan will contest some part of Mr. Sheehan's wishes and have to appear in a California family court, distracting from the circus at hand by removing one of its participants from the ring.

Shoes of a Saint

Interesting pic for the readers.

Supposedly, these sandals are very expensive. Over $200 a pair. Which makes me wonder who on earth would pay $200 for a pair of flimsy-looking sandals? Maybe the liberals can explain that one.

Top Ten Questions

From a blog called Ace of Spades HQ :

Top Ten "Questions" Saint Cindy Sheehan Wants "Answered" By President Bush

10. Why did you kill my son?

9. You had something to do with Natalie Wood's drowning, too, didn't you?

8. Is this war being fought on behalf of the Jews?

7. If not all of the Jews, is this war being fought on behalf of Ben Gazzarra?

6. Who do you think is cuter-- Brian Williams or Matt Lauer? I've had the chance to meet both gentlemen and I have to say that Brian Williams is more "classically" handsome, but there's something about Matt Lauer that makes me think he'd be a real tiger in bed. Your thoughts?

5. A follow-up: Do you have Charlie Rose's home phone number?

4. Why did you lie to us about Saddam Hussein's WMD's?

3. Seriously-- is there even a man named "Saddam Hussein," or was that just another neo-con lie?

2. Knopff is overing me a $250,000 advance against 15% of royalties, but Doubleday is offering $300,000 against 10%. What would you do in this situation?

...and the Number One "Question" Saint Cindy Sheehan Wants "Answered" By President Bush...

1. Would you mind moving? You're blocking my camera.

Baghdad Blogs?

It's odd that every Democrat blog you read predicts the destruction of our forces in Iraq. As Ronald Reagan would say, "why is your crystal ball always so dark and cloudy?"

I always cheer up when I think of this other guy who also predicted the destruction of our forces in Iraq. And indeed, if you read some Democrat blogs, they sound just like him.

In Troubled Times

When you find yourself under attack, you might want to remember this quote from Richard M. Nixon. You would think that he, of all people, would have a right to be bitter.

This was from his final speech as President, in 1974.

"Always give your best, never get discouraged, never be petty; always remember, others may hate you. Those who hate you don't win unless you hate them. And then you destroy yourself."

Words worth remembering. And no, they haven't won, just yet.
